Breaking away from something that means so much is hard. But, knowing that the right thing is being done is such a relief.
We are leaving our home church of the past 11 years. It's hard to type that. Even more difficult to tell those you love. Even more, or most difficult, to take your kids away from their church home. Tough stuff I tell you.
We still love this church and adore many people there. But, at this time, God is calling us away. Scott has recently entered a Leadership Training program at another church. The program requires Sunday service at this new church. For the time being, Scott attends one church and I take the kids to our church. It is hard to be away from him on Sundays. It feels like we are so torn.
This program will propel Scott into the world of ministry along with a great knowledge of the technical/audio sound of how church is done. Eventually, he would love to get a job in this field. He will be in this program for the next two years, so if you need a good tech guy at your church in a few years, let me know. We are so thankful that we found out about this program, because it seemed to be the perfect fit for Scott. He is finally taking steps down his path God set in motion. That is such exciting stuff!!
For us both, we so strongly feel that this is what God has called Scott to do. And we know, God doesn't always call us to sit on our comfy pews and stay only in our comfort zones. Sometimes, following God's call requires sacrifice. Leaving our church will be moving so far out of our comfort zone and be a large sacrifice for our kids. It will be tough for them to meet new friends, but I know they will. It will be a challenge to see new ways of learning, but how much they will grow.
They will also see their Daddy serve in new ways. In the past, they've always known Daddy was on stage playing drums. Now, they will see Daddy greet church goers, serve in childrens minisrty, help people find parking spaces. This program requires service in all areas of church and how great it will be for our kids to see him serve in unexpected places.
The next couple years will have its share of challenges. It will require Scott to attend classes once a week, take theology classes, serve more than he is used to and in ways he never has. But, it will grow us a family. It will fulfill us in ways that only God can.

Oh, Brandi, I can imagine how hard it is for y'all. But I also know the rewards for following God's lead are great!
Praying for y'all!
Having been yanked out of a few church homes in the name of ministry, I can sympathize. This sounds like a wonderful program for Scott! I am very nervous and excited for you guys. You'll be in my prayers.
Girl you should take a cruise to Jamaica and find yourself a get-back-in-business fling like I did! It was just what the Dr. Ruth ordered (if you know what I mean, LOL!).
