Well, let's see what new things are happening. Abby had her dance recital in May. We had considered not continuing dance next year. Not because she didn't love it, but because I was not loving this dance year. Watching my ballerina on stage changed my mind. She dances with grace and just the right amount of sass. I was so proud of her. So, it looks like I'll be a dancing mom once again.
Henry will turn 5 on Sunday. This has completely blown me away. My baby is growing up in so many ways, but he is still my baby in so many ways. Though busy, and he makes me want to pull my hair out, I am often greeted with a hug or an I love you. Melts my heart, I tell you!
For his party, we are doing a BMX party at the park. He has been riding without training wheels for about a year and has now perfected many tricks. In fact, there is an extreme dirt bike rider named Travis Pastrana that Henry has become quite fond of. In fact, he often tells people that his name is Travis. We have gotten many papers from church with Travis written on them. Henry has trouble writing his real name, but has almost perfected Travis. What's a mother to do?
I am in clean up mode in my house again. Clutter has been making my heart race. So, once again, I am working on getting clutter out of the house. My donation box is ever growing. I love the look of clutter free counters in my kitchen. I've also gotten rid of most of my decor on top of the kitchen cabinets. Makes me feel so good! Actually, I've gotten the kids involved too. Abby and I decluttered her room shortly after school was out. Now, I just need to get ready for paint.
Next week our church will host Vacation Bible School (VBS). It is one of my favorite times of the year. I love seeing all of the kids, teaching them, and hearing about their decisions for Christ. For the past several years, I have been a Arts/Crafts leader. This year, though, I am a helper in the area. It's a little (o.k. a LOT) different for me. I am not a control freak, but I like to know what the plan will be and know how the decorations will be, and I'm clueless.
So, what will your theme for VBS be this year? Where will you serve? I love to hear about others VBS experience.
This year it's all about the bayou for us as we encounter Crocodile Dock!

Hey, You! : )
Our church doesn't do VBS, per say. We actually have several day camps for various ages all summer, one of which is a new sports camp that is the same week that another church is doing VBS. That church is where Kiddo went last year and loved. This year they are doing VBS with an Australian theme to it (I can't remember the name). Kiddo won't know which one to do! He'll want to be at our church, but he'll also want to go to Trinity (we're ALL about Australia, you know). I guess we need to make up our minds! : )
Good luck this year! I generally don't serve in the kids' stuff unless I have no other responsibilities with worship, and that is rare. But I do serve when I can! : )
We called ours "Outback Adventure". It was fun!!!
