Today, I enjoyed a field trip with Abigail to American Village. It was my first visit. The place has replica buildings from early colonial days. Today, the children learned about the Revolutionary War. They were able to role play and help send messages to a carrier for General George Washington. The children participated in the Boston Tea Party and were able to learn how Paul Revere helped warn of the Red Coats. The children all laughed hard and learned plenty. I love hands on learning.
The actors all stayed in character. I was very impressed with the staff. They all worked so well with the children. I highly recommend that if you are in the area, give them a visit. I know that for the Fourth of July they offer a huge day full of events that end with a fireworks show. Sometimes, I can see the fireworks from my house.

The weather today on our field trip is typical spring weather for Alabama-- cloudy with chances of severe weather. Right now, we are in a lull with the weather, but do expect it to get worse as the night progresses. That always makes bedtime difficult.
However, on our trip today, I was able to take some pictures from the grounds. I love the way they turned out. All of the pictures from this post were taken today by me with my little Canon. I love them.

Happy Spring! What do you think of the new layout? Thought I would try something a little different.

Gorgeous pics!
American Village is a neat place. I bet it is beautiful in the spring. We were there last June for a wedding in the Chapel. They held the reception in the barn! It was really neat.
Hope this last round of storms weakens before it gets to you. It left a lot of destruction in my county.
I like the new blog layout! Very summer-y... Makes me want to go to the park!
I hope y'all are doing well. We are T-5 weeks and counting 'til Abby Kate arrives!
LOVE the new look! Very cute with all its polka-dottedness! : )
I have thought about y'all each time a storm system has come through our area headed to y'all's. I always get nervous in springtime, especially after last year's tornado that Sound Man recorded on video. **shivers**
I know I'm behind on commenting but I hope you know y'all are in my thoughts a lot! : )
